Thomas Foods International is expanding its domestic wholesale and food service business, rebranding Holco and Country Fresh under the Thomas Foods name.

The Australian-owned company is expanding its Queensland operations into a larger facility in October as it looks to grow its paddock to plate offering.

CEO Darren Thomas said the company sees strong growth potential in the wholesale and food service sectors.

“Holco and Country Fresh have enjoyed a long and successful history within the industry. While we want to continue to grow the business now under the single Thomas Foods brand, we remain focussed on providing a high level of personal service and sticking to our family values.”

The company’s wholesale and food service facilities are based in South Australia, Victoria, Queensland, New South Wales, and the Northern Territory.

The rebranding of Holco and Country Fresh to Thomas Foods will roll out over the coming weeks with the existing fleet of delivery trucks to be among the first to take on the new look.

Holco was established in 1955, with Thomas Foods acquiring a 50 per cent share in 2012. The deal included the Country Fresh brand. Thomas Foods bought the remaining share in 2018. It is a supplier of Australian meat and produce including beef, pork, chicken, smallgoods, and kangaroo with operations in Adelaide, Brisbane, Darwin, Melbourne and Coffs Harbour which distribute nationally.

Queensland expansion

Thomas Foods general manager Commercial Simon Tamke said the Queensland operations will move from its existing site to a 2300sqm facility in Morningside.

“The move will give us a fivefold increase in capacity to service the Queensland market and follows similar investments in our Victorian operations last year,” Tamke said.

“We supply a range of products to restaurants, hotels, function centres and resorts right across Australia with our wholesale division servicing butchers and supermarkets. Earlier this year we also expanded our online ordering platform in South Australia and Victoria (thomasfarms.com.au).

“The past months have re-affirmed to us the high value local venues place on having a reliable supply of high-quality Australian meat produce.”

Thomas Foods International is a 100 per cent family owned company, headquarter in South Australia with operations across Australia and overseas specialising in meat processing, wholesale and food service, as well as seafood and other fresh produce.
