The farm that produced the rockmelon that has been linked to the recent listeria outbreak has been publicly named on the back of pressure from Australian growers.

ABC Rural reported that Rombola Family Farms from Nericon, near Griffith, in NSW is the source of the listeria outbreak which has killed four people and been linked with 17 cases.

Growers called on authorities to name the source, to boost consumer confidence in the fruit, which has seen sales fall by 90 per cent since news of the outbreak hit.

The farm, which claims to be one of Australia's largest growers, is working with NSW Food Authority to find the cause of the outbreak, according to the report.

Rockmelons currently on retail shelves are safe to eat, according to The NSW Food Safety Authority.
