Spraying Systems has launched a new post-processing microbial treatment that can extend the shelf life of meat products by 40 per cent.

The AutoJet Antimicrobial Spray System, which was on show at AUSPACK in March, enables shelf life to increase to 70 days from 45 to 50, and ALT-2 status can be achieved through the addition of a new post-processing microbial treatment.

The system uses the SLIC (Sprayed Lethality in Container) process, which involves spraying an antimicrobial into a vacuum package before the meat product is inserted. Vacuum-sealing of the package distributes the antimicrobial evenly around the product – a process validated by the USDA/ARS.

Spraying Systems offers antimicrobial coating, paper moisturising, sanitising, bottle packaging, moisture addition, and bottle coating and drying to help companies increase production and lower operating costs.
