With just over three weeks to go until the Food & Drink Business + PKN Disruptive Innovation Industry Forum, let's take a look at the speaker line-up.

Richard Sauerman, The Brand Guy: As the opening act, The Brand Guy will whisk you straight out of your comfort zone and into adventurous thinking mode. Driving Change is the theme of his presentation, and he will look at the challenge of change in our accelerated world. He will identify the key attributes needed to drive change and innovation, and what you need to bring to the party.

Nick Hickford, Bulla Dairy Foods General Manager – Sales, Marketing & Innovation: Nick is tasked with driving the Bulla brand into exciting new markets, but transitioning from a production-led business into an innovation-led business has required evolution. Winning at innovation against global giants, when you’re a medium size business, bares little resemblance to textbook marketing, according to Hickford, who will reveal how Bulla reshaped its marketing and innovation agenda, and is driving disruptive innovation in partnership with creative start-ups.

Daniel Flynn, co-founder and Managing Director of Thankyou: Starting from scratch, Thankyou Group's founders have turned a blue sky idea into a thriving social enterprise that allows consumers to fund projects in developing countries by purchasing its products. Daniel will be sharing the story and and the lessons they have learned so far on their world-changing journey.

Tim McLean – Lean Manufacturing Specialist, TXM Managing Director: Lean was supposed to revolutionise a business's ability to innovate, but it hasn't worked out that way for many in the food and beverage industry. So what's going wrong? How does the model need to be adapted to the specific needs of this industry? McLean shares examples of those company that got it right, and how it's helped them become a disruptive force in their category.

David Baveystock, Director, Comet Line Consulting: Technology has disrupted many industry sectors: entertainment, taxis, accommodation – but until now, food and beverage has remained relatively unscathed. That looks to now be changing, so Comet Line conducted some research to determine which digital business models are making the biggest dent on traditional channels and how this could impact food and beverage companies.

Dermott Dowling, Director, Creatovate: How can traditional food and beverage companies innovate like a start-up? It's a crucial skill for companies in today's fast changing environment. Dowling will look at the different ways traditional food and beverage companies can break out of their current innovation paradigms. He will explore new thinking models and share case studies of incumbents and how they are successfully innovating like start-ups.

Adam Robinson, Senior Packaging Technologist, Coles Brand: Private label is no longer the follower of trends, the copier of innovation. It's increasing its share of shelf space at the expense of other brands and in many cases is leading the way as a product and packaging innovator. Adam will provide insights into the direction private label packaging is taking in general, and will provide insight into Coles Brand's strategy for being innovation leaders and category disruptors.

Adam Ransom, CEO of SGK Asia Pacific: Winning on the digital shelf will be the focus of Adam Ransom's presentation, in which he will cover how the growth of online shopping and changing purchasing behaviours is impacting retail. He'll discuss the price of complacency for both FMCG companies and retailers, and he'll look at the part packaging plays in winning on the digital shelf.

Jason Beckley, Business Development Manager, HP Indigo: It's no secret HP Indigo is leading the charge in the digital 'revolution' in packaging printing. Jason will use industry case studies to demonstrate the endless possibilities that digital offers brands when it comes to disruption, including customisation and personalisation.

Jacqui Wilson Smith, Global Head of Marketing and Innovation, Gourmet Garden:  As head of innovation on an award-winning product that has disrupted the processed herb category and is making waves both locally and in export markets, Jacqui knows what it takes to get from concept to shelf and beyond. Gourmet Garden’s award winning herb system is disruptive innovation from a processing and packaging standpoint. Jacqui will present Gourmet Garden’s design-led innovation journey, and look at the shifts in traditional consumer research methodology and approaching new product development with an entrepreneurial spirit and a “fail fast” approach.

Michael Grima, Founder and Chief Cat Herder, QDesign Enterprise: A packaging design specialist with 20+ years’ industry experience in senior roles at leading brand owners, packaging manufacturers and design agencies, Michael will discuss the journey for FMCG brand owners from Insight Conversion through Stage-Gate development right to commercial launch, and how unlocking the “user” experience is key to creating design solutions with disruptive potential.

Taby Taylor-Ziane, Strategic Director, Boxer and Co: Packaging and brand design is a key element in how we can capitalise on consumer trends and communicate values and meaning that will resonate with people at a visceral level. Translating the meaning of consumer trends into design ensures we are tapping into people’s needs at a big picture level. Combine this with contextual category understanding and you will have yourself a winner. Taby will share her professional insight and passion for finding the perfect intersection between consumer insight, commercial benefit and creative genius.

The morning and afternoon sessions will both wrap-up with a panel discussion, the first De-risking Innovation, and the second, Design Fast Forward.
