Entries are now open for the 2025 Melbourne Royal Wine Awards, an annual opportunity for Australian winemakers to have their wines benchmarked against peers and receive feedback from expert judges to improve quality and inspire innovation.

Established in 1883, the Melbourne Royal Wine Awards is one of Australia’s oldest and most respected wine shows, recognising and rewarding excellence in Australian winemaking. The 2024 round attracted over 2300 entries from more than 450 wineries across Australia, and awarded 32 major trophies to the top submissions.

This year will offer an all-new Design category, recognising the importance of packaging, labelling and overall visual presentation in today’s competitive market, and, to acknowledge the growth in entries in the Single Varietal White category, the Awards have introduced a new class for Chenin Blanc.

The Melbourne Royal food and beverage award programs celebrate excellence in agri-food production in Australia and around the world. The International Beer and International Spirits Awards have already taken place for 2025, with Western Australia’s Wedgetail Brewing taking out the Champion Australian Beer award, and South Australia’s Prohibition Liquor Co receiving the Champion Australian Distiller award at their respective ceremonies.

Judging for the 2025 Melbourne Royal Australian Food Awards will take place in mid-August, showcasing the most successful food products and brands across four distinctive food categories: Dairy, Preserves, Smallgoods, and new for 2025, Branded Meat.

Entries for the Wine Awards close on 29 August, with judging taking place at the Melbourne Showgrounds from 20-24 October, followed by a presentation ceremony on 7 November.
