Entries are now open for the 2025 Melbourne Royal Australian Food Awards, showcasing Australia's most successful food products and brands across four distinctive food categories: Dairy, Preserves, Smallgoods, and new for 2025, Branded Meat.

The Melbourne Royal Australian Food Awards returned in 2023 after a three-year hiatus, and have been refining the category system to better reflect the “needs, wants and expectations of Australian food producers”. The team announced the changes for 2024 when entries opened in March, and the Champion Trophy winners were awarded in October.

The 2025 Awards offers an opportunity for Australian food producers to have their products and produce benchmarked against their peers to improve quality and inspire innovation. This year there are 12 major trophies and 10 category awards up for grabs – including new honours for Meat.

Medal and trophy winners can use the Melbourne Royal seal of excellence in marketing and on packaging, and will gain exposure through Melbourne Royal’s media and trade networks, plus the opportunity to showcase their products at the 2025 Melbourne Royal Show in the Gourmet Pantry & Cellar Pavilion.

Melbourne Royal senior manager food and beverage awards, Kirrily Waldhorn, said the Awards provide producers large and small with the chance to benchmark their products and establish their credentials in the Australian food industry.

“A coveted Melbourne Royal Australian Food Awards Trophy or Medal on product packaging is one of the best ways to ensure the product being purchased is of the highest quality, having been judged by Australia’s most esteemed judging panel,” said Waldhorn.

To enter and for detailed criteria, head to melbourneroyal.com.au. Entries close on 27 June, with judging to take place at Melbourne Showgrounds from 5-13 August. The Trophy Presentation will be held during the 2025 Melbourne Royal Show on 2 October.
