Costa Group has announced Sean Hallahan will be its new CEO and managing director from 31 March 2021. Hallahan has been the company’s COO since October 2017.

Costa is one of Australia’s largest grower, packer and marketer of fresh produce.

Current CEO and managing director Harry Debney has been in the role since September 2010. He oversaw the company’s transition from a private to publicly listed entity in July 2015. Debney had announced he wanted to retire from a full-time executive role.

Costa Group chair Neil Chatfield said an international executive recruitment search was carried out.

“We are delighted to have a person of Sean’s calibre and experience. He brings a deep passion for our industry as well as more than 20 years senior management and CEO experience in FMCG,” Chatfield said.

Prior to joining Costa, Hallahan was MD of Tata Global Beverages ANZ and Indonesia for seven years. He has also held senior sales and marketing roles with George Weston Foods, Simplot and SC Johnson.
