Cobram Estate has been awarded one of the best oils in the world by the International Olive Council at the Mario Solinas 2020 awards.
Cobram Estate’s Black Label Hojiblanca Extra Virgin Olive Oil was awarded the best oil in the Southern Hemisphere.
Chief oil maker Leandro Ravetti said Mario Solinas is the most stringent and highly regarded of all olive oil competitions in the world, and viewed as the “Oscars” of the olive oil industry.
Ravetti said: “We have proven that it was possible to build the number one brand of extra virgin olive oil in Australia without compromising on quality, and that allows farmers like us to sustainably continue growing olives and producing extra virgin olive oil for the generations to come.”
Almost 160 samples of extra virgin olive oil from 13 countries took part in the competition. The International Olive Council is the world’s only international intergovernmental organisation for olive oil and table olive producers. It was set up in Madrid, Spain in 1959 with the support of the United Nations.
Cobram Estate is part of the Boundary Bend Group, which entered the Food & Drink Business Australia’s Top 100 Food & Drink Companies report for the first time in 2020. It was ranked #98.
