Vitaco Health, the makers of Musashi, are launching Athena Sports Nutrition, a range, dedicated to athletic women featuring protein powders, supplements and snacks.

Vitaco said the Informed Sport Certified (excluding bars) range is 100 per cent dedicated to helping female athletes achieve their next performance level, whether they compete professionally or are training to be super fit.

The Athena product is made differently to suit the biological needs of being a female athlete. In consultation with elite female athletes and sport nutritional experts, including advanced dports dietitian Sally Walker, the products are paired with +Factors (iron, collagen, calcium and electrolytes), unlike any other product offering within the sports nutrition space. These +Factors are added so athletic women get more of what their bodies need.

“Women have different biological needs for their body. Identifying these specific needs and targeting them through tailored nutrition can support peak performance and health.

This product range focuses on aligning the biological needs, lifestyle and training demands of female athletes to deliver unique performance nutrition support for females. The ATHENA +Factor emphasises the specific ingredients females need to feel and perform their best including iron, calcium, collagen, electrolytes and protein,”said Walker.

Athena brand lead Cristy Riddell said that following the company’s success with its Musashi brand, it identified a market gap for specific female sports nutritional product.

“Female athletes have different nutritional needs to fuel their body, and within the current market, there wasn’t a product dedicated to optimising those needs.

For that reason, after many years of research and designed in collaboration with expert sports dieticians and female athletes, who have first-hand experiences on how different formulations impact their training and game day performances, we have developed a product range that has the unique +Factors to support female athletes,” said Riddell.

The Athena product range is available from Chemist Warehouse, online, and select products at Coles.
