Handpicked Wines has released the 2022 vintages of its Single Vineyard and Collection ranges, showcasing pinot noir and chardonnay from some of Australia’s top wine regions. Sourced from Handpicked’s organically managed vineyard holdings, these wines reflect the artistry of site-specific, sustainable, and regenerative viticulture.

The company said the 2022 vintage resulted in fruit of exceptional quality but well below average yields in Mornington Peninsula and Yarra Valley, due to wet and stormy conditions during flowering. In Tasmania, the vintage began cool and wet, finishing with
optimal ripening.

Handpicked Wines chief winemaker, Peter Dillon, leads a winemaking team that spans some of the top wine regions in Australia and New Zealand, with a meticulous, hands-on approach.

“Our Single Vineyard range shows the character of individual vineyards, while the Collection range showcases the character of each wine region as a whole through the varieties that they are most renowned for,” said Dillon.

“Terroir is at the heart of these two ranges, so we take great care to nurture the sites, which helps us produce exceptional fruit. We carefully select the highest-performing pockets of grapes from the vineyards and handle them gently throughout the winemaking process.

“These 2022 release wines are a testament to over a decade of thoughtful stewardship, regenerative farming methods, and a deep respect for the land.”

The eight new vintage releases include premium expressions of Handpicked’s two flagship varieties, from Mornington Peninsula, Yarra Valley, and Tasmania.

Regions

Capella Vineyard in the Mornington Peninsula is the heart of Handpicked’s winemaking operations and serves as the winery’s spiritual home. Intensive regenerative practices have created a vibrant ecosystem that produces outstanding chardonnay and pinot noir.

Highbow Hill Vineyard in the Yarra Valley has endured fire and phylloxera but has emerged resilient. Organic practices have played a key role in its transformation, and despite past challenges, the site continues to generate growing excitement each year.

Wombat Creek Vineyard, the highest commercial vineyard in the Yarra Valley, is home to vines planted in the 1980s. The combination of old vines and high-altitude conditions results in wines with both intensity and elegance.

Auburn Road and Native Point Vineyards in Tasmania are the newest additions to the Handpicked portfolio. Situated on the slopes of the Tamar River, Tasmania’s pristine environment, with its pure fruit and untouched wilderness, makes it a natural fit for the winery’s expanding portfolio.

The new vintages are available from handpickedwines.com.au, Handpicked Wines Urban Cellar Doors, and select fine retailers.
