A new test that detects and monitors levels of the major culprits of beer spoilage in under four hours has been announced by Australasian Medical & Scientific Ltd (AMSL).
The new Veriflow brewPAL test kits from Invisible Sentinel is a sensitive and user-friendly method to analyse in-process beer for Pediococcus and Lactobacillus from post-boil to bottling.
According to AMSL, the negative effects of beer spoilage microorganisms – off taste, off smells, and visual faults such as turbidity – are a major concern to most breweries.
The test is simple to use and the equipment has a small footprint, making this product suitable for any size brewery or lab, according to AMSL.
The company says the Veriflow brewPAL has the same sensitivity of real-time PCR tests, but with the ease of use associated with flow-based assays.
“Veriflow brewPAL is the next generation in powerful diagnostic tools to help beer artisans cost-effectively improve the quality of their products,” AMSL says.
