Matt Blackwell at Monster Kitchen and Bar

Expect a riot at Canberra’s original game-changing dining space, as GOMA chef Matt Blackwell rolls into town for this one-night-only Good Food Month presented by Citi dining event at Monster Kitchen and Bar.

Fresh from Brisbane’s art mecca and known for his ever-growing tattoos and love of music, Blackwell will bring his authentic artistic flair to the dinner table, curating creative plates set to a soundtrack of perfect feasting tunes.

Spread within the modernist hotel lobby of Ovolo Nishi – Good Food Month Canberra’s exclusive hotel partner – Monster Kitchen and Bar makes a fun, eclectic setting for Blackwell’s menu, which focuses on using the finest local and sustainable produce in each plate.

Blackwell is accustomed to working with the best, earning his stripes across the Tasman at acclaimed Auckland restaurant Sidart, which scored three hats and the title of Restaurant of the Year during his tenure.

Back in his homeland of the UK, Blackwell was part of the launch team for celebrity chef Michael O’Hare’s Leeds restaurant The Man Behind the Curtain, which won a Michelin Star within the first year of opening.

He also spent time at two-hatted Ides restaurant in Melbourne before making the move to Brisbane and GOMA.

Now he takes over the capital’s most popular kitchen for this limited event in partnership with Good Food Month. With Monster’s decadent aesthetic and a special guest DJ rocking the room, this is a dinner party you won’t want to miss.
