Aquafab received the Hive Award for Best Beverage Product for its novel approach to replicating the foaming capabilities of egg whites in cocktails, creating a first of its kind product with a shelf-stable formula of faba bean protein and water.

Unlike traditional aquafaba sourced from canned chickpeas, Aquafab is made from faba bean protein and processed to deliver the same foaming capabilities without the mess or waste. This shelf-stable product eliminates health concerns linked to raw egg whites and avoids the bitter aftertaste associated with synthetic foamers.

The product is 100% Victorian, made using locally-grown faba beans and produced in Ballarat, at Cottonwood Springs. It comes in a 500ml Tetra Pak carton that can make 16-20 sours, with a two year shelf life, or 7-10 days once opened.

This marks the company’s second Hive Award win, taking out the Best Ingredient category in 2025. Since then, Aquafab has been adopted by over 800 venues across Australia, is planning to enter the US and UK markets later this year, and is now supplying major cruise lines including Disney, Princess, Holland, Seabourn, Silversea, and Crystal.

Aquafab also completed a $620,000 Series A raise through Birchal in March, supported by over 300 investors.
