Peters has launched a new Empire Collection in its premium Connoisseur ice cream range which includes four new flavours, each inspired by historical characters.

The packaging was designed by Melbourne street artist Steve Cross and features four historical characters, each of whom had a connection to the origins of ice cream.

The Empire Collection includes a coffee hazelnut flavoured ice cream which is an ode to Italy and Emperor Nero, and a French vanilla flavour which is a homage to King Louis XIV.

The new red bean flavour was inspired by Emperor Jing Zong and the pistachio flavour is a tribute to King Cyrus of Persia, according to Peters, which was recently bought by French-owned ice cream company R&R.

Connoisseur head of marketing, Emma-Jane Collins, says the brand consistently strives “to push the flavour boundaries and give our fans something new and exciting, something they may not have tasted before.”

For each design, artist Steve Cross hand painted on canvas and then photographed features, icons and elements of each character’s life and achievements.

The Empire Collection is available at Coles, Woolworths and selected Independent retailers nationally for a recommended retail price of $7.99 for a 470ml tub.
