KFC has closed its first concept store targeting urban professionals which opened just six months ago, but the fastfood chain still intends to pursue the new model.

The fast food chain plans to open another store in the Sydney suburbs in December, according to AdNews.

The flagship store was located at Church Street in Parramatta, and aimed to offer a smaller, more targeted menu and to “meet the evolving expectations of urban, working professionals”, according to KFC.

KFC Australia also sought a liquor license to provide a small selection of beer and cider to customers, but this was declined by the Independent Liquor and Gaming Authority in May.

The Parramatta store offered a custom menu including burgers, wraps and bowls and used new ingredients such as red quinoa, jalapeno sauces, basmati rice and corn salsa.

KFC says it is taking “learnings” from the Western Sydney store to “try and work out how the brand operates in urban spaces” and to continue to innovate, according to AdNews.
