Juicy Japanese Deal Made
We’ve been reporting on Australian beverage company Made Group for a few years now. Made Group founder Luke Marget spoke at one of our very first LIVE events in 2016. We covered the news when Coca-Cola Amatil bought a 45 per cent stake in the business, and when the group built its 15,000 square metre facility on Melbourne’s outskirts. Earlier this year there was talk of an acquisition by TPG Global, but in the meantime we’re hear to report on its very successful launch into the Japanese market with the help of Austrade. Out of the ashes
This is a plant design and build we’re going to be following closely over the next year or so. Back in 2018, Thomas Food International’s meat processing plant in Murray Bridge, South Australia burnt to the ground. But in a paddock, just out of the town, a new plant is rising. Literally. It is a mammoth development – around 180,000 cubic metres of soil on the site has been redistributed, 13,500 cubic metres of concrete laid and now, 1700 tonnes of steelworks begins. We can’t wait to see this build unfold. Page 34.

The varnishing touch
Hygiene and safety is critical to the food and beverage sector, to the point it can’t be overstated. So I was really excited to bring you this piece about Twelve8 Technology’s SafetoShare Varnish. I’m not doing it any favours with this brief description, but it is essentially a patented clear protective film that can be applied to cardboard and paper packaging that repels and kills up to 99 per cent of bacteria.
