Sydney's new $80 million dining precinct, Gateway Sydney, recently showcased a strong line-up of tenants including Neil Perry’s Burger Project, Popina Sydney, Adriano Zumbo and Gelato Messina.

 

The new CBD dining precinct was launched by Lord Mayor of Sydney, Clover Moore, and aims to bring together some of Sydney’s favourite eateries, a variety of cuisines, and fine dining at an affordable price.

 

DEXUS Property Group worked in partnership with City of Sydney to transform the historically significant Jessie Street Gardens on Alfred Streets.

 

DEXUS CEO, Darren Steinberg said,“The precinct showcases an exceptional range of Australian food and beverage offers in one collective location, providing a fitting gateway to Sydney Harbour and the CBD.”

 

Gateway Sydney spans three floors, each one representing DEXUS’ understanding of the different facets of the Australian dining landscape.

 

The first floor is the ground level, which has been open to the public since early December. The space caters to a more casual, fun, dining experience, with names like Messina Gelato, Adriano Zumbo, Four French Frogs Crêperie and Hero Sushi.

 

The second tier is home to eateries such as Neil Perry’s The Burger Project, Chat Thai and Popina, all of which combine the high quality food of fine dining and the affordability of casual dining.

 

The third level is home to Tokyo Laundry and Hurricanes Grill, the chefs of which have designed new menus, unique to their Gateway Sydney restaurant.

 

Responding to increasing demand for rooftop bars and restaurants, the next part of the Gateway Sydney development to be revealed is Popina’s extension atop the precinct.

 

With a capacity of up to 120 people, it is hoped to be a space for hosting multiple small functions, or even larger events.
