Chobani says New Zealand’s newfound love for the brand has led to soaring demand. Products are now being stocked in 180 Countdown stores in New Zealand, with 45 stores featuring a full bay of Chobani yogurt.

Since its launch into New Zealand in August last year, Chobani products on offer in New Zealand have more than doubled, with two additional ranges recently launched in Countdown.

Alongside Chobani 160g Greek Yogurt Pots, 907g Greek Yogurt Tubs and Chobani Flip, NZ shoppers can now purchase Chobani No Sugar Added.

No Sugar Added is Chobani’s latest yogurt, which has no sugar added, no sweeteners added, one billion probiotics and high in natural protein yogurt and only natural ingredients. Along with No Sugar Added comes the availability of Chobani FiT, a Greek yogurt blended with fruit that is high in protein and low in fat.

Chobani’s general manager of demand, Julia Clark, said the growth occurring in NZ is resembling that which was experienced when Chobani first launched in Australia.

“What we’re currently seeing happen in New Zealand is reminiscent of Chobani’s take-off in Australia. Since day one, Chobani has always had consumers’ needs front of mind. This is what’s driven our innovative spirit and has allowed us to grow so rapidly and successfully in the yogurt category.”

Besides boosting the variety of yogurt options for New Zealanders, Countdown’s commercial director of Fresh & Food Co Pieter De Wet said he had been amazed to see how Chobani was changing the demographics of the yogurt category.

“Since we welcomed Chobani into Countdown, we’ve seen a real change in customer shopping trends with young people and smaller households choosing to put yogurt options in their trolley,” said De Wet.
