A competition offering $50,000 in branding advice could be just the ticket for some companies reeling from the pandemic. Brand agency Taylor & Grace said its 50for50 competition was intended as a post COVID-19 boost.

Organisations need to respond in 50 words to the question: What value does your brand bring to the world?

Entries close on Tuesday 30 June 2020, with the winner announced the following week on Friday 10 July. It is open to all Australian organisations, but Taylor & Grace is specifically looking for brands that do good for the world, both for profit and for purpose.

Having recently rebranded themselves to better reflect who they are as a business, Taylor & Grace MD and head of strategy Darren Taylor said its team understands the importance of brands embracing change to ensure they re-emerge as meaningful and valuable.

He said: “Most businesses have been hit with a double whammy because of COVID-19. The world has changed, and most businesses need to at the very least review, if not reinvent, their brand to be relevant, however their capacity to invest in this has been wiped out.

“During this pandemic, we have found ourselves with the ability to rebrand and would genuinely like to help other brands do the same.”

Taylor & Grace will tailor the work to the winning organisation’s needs, which could include a brand strategy, new name, new visual identity and style guide, branded collateral templates or a 6-12-month marketing plan.

“We undertake pro-bono work every year and this year, we would love to work with a brand that is making a difference to the world and has a burning need to revamp. Helping this client increase their impact will put a huge smile on our face!” Taylor said.

The ACCC has instituted court proceedings against Clorox Australia, owner of GLAD-branded kitchen and garbage bags, over alleged false claims that bags were partly made of recycled 'ocean plastic'.

In news that is disappointing but not surprising given the recent reports on the unfolding Qenos saga, the new owner of Qenos has placed the company into voluntary administration. The closure of the Qenos Botany facility has also been confirmed.

An agreement struck between Cleanaway and Viva Energy will see the two companies undertake a prefeasibility assessment of a circular solution for soft plastics and other hard-to-recycle plastics.
