Beak & Johnston is adding a line of preservative free sausages to its Beak & Sons range of meat products and these are due to hit the shelves next month.

Beak & Sons uses a patented technology that allows it to make great tasting additive free sausages, according to brand manager, Lisa White.

“Most pre-packaged foods have preservatives, however, it’s the levels of synthetic preservatives that create concern for some consumers. Our new range means you can enjoy the Beak & Sons sausage with absolutely no preservatives and absolutely no concern,” she says.

“Our technology allows us to achieve a shelf life of ten days. The product may be frozen by consumers for later use, however, we recommend to cook them fresh to achieve maximum flavour,” says White.

The range is also gluten free and includes four flavours including two beef varieties: Mediterranean Herb, and Pepper & Thyme, and two pork: Old English and The Italian.

The new range will be available from mid-October from selected Coles supermarkets.

Packaging News

As Australia’s packaging reform agenda moves closer to implementation, APCO is strengthening its leadership and operational capability, appointing Tom Key as COO to help drive the systems and delivery capability needed for the next phase of reform.

Federal ministers yesterday convened an urgent industry roundtable on plastics supply chain pressures, placing packaging reform and domestic recycling capability firmly at the centre of discussions around Australia’s food security and manufacturing resilience.

The Australian Beverages Council has renewed calls for urgent national packaging reform, saying global supply disruptions highlight the need for stronger domestic recycling and harmonised EPR.
