Shoppers are being urged to purchase more consciously and support Aussie makers and growers as Australian Made Week kicks-off today.

Recent research from Roy Morgan reveals that if every household spent an additional $10 a week on Australian Made products, it would generate almost $5 billion extra into our economy each year and create up to 9000 new jobs.

 

Australian Made CEO, Ben Lazzaro, said Australian Made Week, which runs from Monday 20 to Sunday 26 May, aimed to celebrate all that we create.

“When we choose to buy local, we’re helping keep Aussies in business and in jobs.  Even the smallest purchases can make a huge difference,” Lazzaro said.

“And when you consider that according to KPMGs most recent Family Business Survey, 67 per cent of all businesses in Australia are family-owned and operated and more than half of the nation’s workforce is employed by a family business, it makes sense to buy home grown goods.

“All it takes is looking for products bearing the trusted green and gold kangaroo logo, which certifies a product as genuinely Australian Made,” he added.

The Roy Morgan research showed 91 per cent of Australians want to see more Australian Made products on the shelves, and 77 per cent are willing to pay more for products made here.
