Barossa winery, Peter Lehmann Wines, has launched a new wine range innovating on the iconic Barossa Valley Shiraz – Barossan X. Each of the three pours blend the rich South Australian Shiraz with an alternative varietal, including Tempranillo, Montepulciano, and Touriga.

Peter Lehmann Wines senior brand manager, Alfred Loo, said the range aims to rewrite the rules of traditional Barossa Shiraz, and showcase the diversity and vibrancy of the Casella Family Brands-owned company’s vineyards.

“Peter Lehmann himself believed rules existed to be bent, broken, blended and amended,” said Loo.

Barossan X Twisted Shiraz features Tempranillo, creating a medium-bodied red with a bright and textural palate, with aromas of Turkish delight and ripe dried fig.

Montepulciano is the twist in the Barossan X Daring Shiraz, a full-bodied wine with aromas of dark fruits, violet and spice, and chocolate and cedar oak on the palate.

The Barossan X Radical Shiraz is the finishing touch to the range, featuring Touriga, which adds varietal notes of sour cherry and dried thyme to the medium-bodied pour.

Each varietal in the Barossan X range was crafted by Peter Lehmann Wines' winemaker, Lauren Hutton, who said the range embodies a commitment to innovation, while staying true to the unparalleled quality that defines the company.

The Barossan X range is available at BWS and Dan Murphy’s stores nationwide for RRP $23.00.
