South Australian brewery, Pirate Life, has released the latest beer in their Hero Hop series - the Belma IPA. The official launch coincided with International IPA Day, on 1 August.

Since the brewery was founded in 2014, Pirate Life has crafted hundreds of IPAs. The company’s first ever beer, an 8.8% Imperial IPA, was awarded the title of one of GABS Hottest 100 Craft Beers of 2015, when it placed third after just ten months in the market.

Earlier this year, Pirate Life also released its second collaboration with St Agnes Distillery – a brandy barrel aged Imperial Stout.

Pirate Life co-Founder, Jack Cameron said: the company was ‘stoked’ to be releasing the Belma IPA on International IPA Day this year.

“There’s no doubt about it, India Pale Ales are synonymous with the Pirate Life brand. Belma IPA showcases a really cool hop variety out of the US – Belma. Unlike most hops, which are developed through international breeding programs, it was discovered growing roadside near Puterbaugh Farms in the Yakima Valley,” said Cameron.

“We’re untamed by nature, so it’s really a perfect fit. You’ll get a bunch of strawberry and stone fruit characters, balanced bitterness, and a good lick of resin, too. Exactly what you’d expect from a solid IPA.”

Pirate Life’s Belma IPA is now available at its Port Adelaide and Melbourne venues, and online at shop.piratelife.com.au for RRP $22 in a four-pack, or $81 in a 16-can case.
