Lion Australia brand, James Squire, has launched its latest culinary-inspired craft beer – Chef Blend. The pale ale was created in collaboration with Australian chef and food personality, Adam Liaw.

Available from mid-August, James Squire’s Chef Blend is a refreshing pale ale to cut through rich food, rounded malt and a hint of sweetness to stand up to spice and refreshing citrus notes to refresh the palate, with a crisp, clean finish after every sip.

Lion Australia marketing director, Rachel Ellerm, said the beer was the perfect meal companion for food lovers everywhere.

“Collaborating with Adam Liaw brought a fresh perspective to our brewing process,” said Ellerm.

“From the very start, his dedication and meticulous approach to the R&D process was instrumental in creating a beer that embodies the innovation and quality for both brands. We believe Chef Blend will be a standout in the beer market, and can’t wait for Aussies to try it.”

“Our partnership with Adam Liaw allowed us to merge our commitment to brewing excellence with his culinary expertise. The Chef Blend is a standout addition to James Squire’s vibrant and balanced beer portfolio and is a taste of what’s to come for future launches across our product portfolio,” she said.

James Squire’s Chef Blend joins the James Squire portfolio including Lashes, Stride, Shackles, Ginger Beer and Zero. It replaces the company’s limited-edition blend from earlier this year, the MasterChef Australia inspired James Squire XPA.

The new pale ale has an ABV of 4.2% and will be available to purchase in 330ml bottles.

“Chef Blend is designed to be versatile. I have a science background, so I spent a lot of time with the brewing team fine tuning the body, mouthfeel and aromas of Chef Blend to match perfectly with food by refreshing and opening the palate with every sip,” said Liaw.

“Whether you’re enjoying a casual meal or a gourmet feast, a great meal demands a great beer to elevate the experience. Together, we wanted to create a delicious pale ale that is so sophisticated it could serve as a premium alternative to drinking wine.”

James Squire Chef Blend will be available exclusively in Coles Group stores, including Liquorland, First Choice Liquor Market and Vintage Cellars stores nationally for RRP $58 per case and $22 per six pack.

Consolidation at the top, restructuring in the middle, and bold innovation at the edges have reshaped the industry’s horizons. At the same time, regulators, brand owners and recyclers have inched closer to a new circular operating model, even as policy clarity remains elusive.
