Carlton & United Breweries (CUB) brand, The Great Northern Brewing Co, is launching a premium beer exclusively for the Queensland market and inspired by the state’s outback climate.

Brewed in Queensland at the CUB Yatala Brewery, Long Run is a rich, clean and crisp 4.5% ABV lager, brewed with 100 per cent Australian barley. With a subtle tropical hop and citrus aroma that carries lightly onto the palate, ending in a subtle blend of bitterness and malt, it is perfect for Queensland.

CUB Queensland state manager, Ian Giles, said that Long Run has been crafted for beer lovers who are opting for quality, and he expects this signature bottle to soon become synonymous with life’s special occasions.

“The premium beer market is growing as drinkers’ preferences change so the launch of Long Run is perfectly timed to meet the needs of Queenslanders looking to celebrate in style,” said Giles.

“Lots of Great Northern drinkers have told us they are keen for a premium beer, so we’re looking forward to bringing Long Run to pubs and clubs across Queensland and seeing customers raising this soon-to-be iconic bottle.

“While the important moments in life are often toasted with champagne, Queenslanders have always done things a little differently. Brewing a beer that can bring people together to celebrate life’s milestones just made sense.

“It’s a brew inspired by the Queensland outback, where deep bonds are forged and tested every day. With its satisfying finish, Long Run is the perfect beer for those who know that getting things done may take time – but in the long run, it’s worth the effort,” he said.

Long Run Premium Crisp Lager is available at liquor stores across Queensland for RRP $25 in a six-pack and $67 in a case.

As 2025 draws to a close, it is clear the packaging sector has undergone one of its most consequential years in over a decade. Consolidation at the top, restructuring in the middle, and bold innovation at the edges have reshaped the industry’s horizons. At the same time, regulators, brand owners and recyclers have inched closer to a new circular operating model, even as policy clarity remains elusive.

Pact has reported a decline in revenue and earnings for the first five months of FY26, citing subdued market demand, as chair Raphael Geminder pursues settlement of the long-running TIC earn-out dispute.
