CSR has launched two new specialty sugar varieties: Unrefined Rapadura and Dark Muscovado.

The Unrefined Rapadura has a rich golden colour complemented with a delicate caramel flavour, making it suitable for syrups, beverages, cakes, and raw desserts, according to the company.

On the other hand, the Dark Muscovado is deep in colour and carries robust bittersweet and treacle flavours.

It is designed for baked goods such as chocolate cakes, brownies and fruit cakes, but can also be used in glazes or marinades on meat.

CSR Sugar marketing manager Melissa Clayton says the specialty sugar products have been designed to encourage consumers to experiment with bold new flavours and ideas.

“Whether you’re a baking novice or an experienced hand, we are really excited to see how the new specialty sugars range will be embraced through maximising the flavours in unique and innovative ways," she said.

In addition to the new products, the organically grown Unrefined Coconut Sugar has had a brand refresh with new packaging designed to clearly communicate the product's benefits.
