Beverage giant Asahi has moved its Gatorade brand into the functional water category with the launch of a sugar-free flavoured water with electrolytes.

Called G Active, the drink has been designed to address the fitness needs of exercisers looking to get the most from their workouts, according to the company.

The water is available in lemon, orange and berry flavours and seeks to offer enhanced hydration benefits for workouts when compared with water alone.

Including electrolytes and vitamins, it contains no sugar and has been designed to replace what is lost in sweat.

As part of the launch, Amanda Bisk, Daniel Conn and Luke Hines created a pop-up floating fitness destination called the G Active HydroGym.

RRP for the water is $3.39.
