When the Foodpro food and beverage processing show rolls into town next month, plant design firms will be out in force to discuss the food facility of the future.

Design and construction company Vaughan has been behind a number of significant projects, and will be at Foodpro to talk through what it offers.

One of its projects was the Coca-Cola Amatil Northmead warehouse extension and guardhouse – the fifth it has undertaken for Coca-Cola Amatil.

Vaughan also constructed a 32-metre high, fully-automated highbay facility for Diageo Australia (pictured above), and has undertaken projects for Woolworths and Ralph's Meat.

Wiley will be on hand to demonstrate augmented reality with the Microsoft HoloLens. The technology opens up possibilities such as scenario planning, a variety of 3D simulations, remote collaboration, visualising IOT, design, assisted manufacturing, and warehouse logistics.

The technology can improve human-centred design and complex service coordination, and increase productivity, according to Wiley.

Wiley’s R&D and innovation director Brett Wiskar will be also presenting at the show on the topic of mixed reality and the future of decision making in the food supply chain.

RMR Process will be at the show to discuss its end-to-end solutions for small to mid-tier food manufacturers that are outgrowing their current facility and need to scale up.

RMR designs and builds food manufacturing processes and facilities for extended shelf-life food, including chilled and ambient products for both domestic and export supply, and works closely with process partner Food Processing Specialists.

Packaging News

Industry leaders have renewed calls for national packaging reform, warning that Australia's manufacturing resilience, recycling investment and sovereign capability remain vulnerable without policy action to create demand for locally recycled content and provide a more level competitive playing field.

Australia's emerging soft plastics recycling infrastructure is ready to process significantly more material, according to Soft Plastic Stewardship Australia, which has launched a three-month campaign aimed at boosting consumer returns and strengthening domestic supply of recycled resin.

PKN’s latest print issue is hitting desks and landing in inboxes, bringing readers up to speed with the people, technologies and innovations shaping packaging, printing and processing across Australia and beyond.
