A ‘missing link’ for packaging lines has been rolled out in the Australia-New Zealand market.

G Mondini's new Platformer – now available to the ANZ market – has been described by its local distributor Select Equip as the missing link for packaging lines.

Most of today’s packaging lines are divided into either thermoforming or tray sealing lines, the first producing value packs, and the second higher quality packs with greater flexibility, according to Select Equip's SA and WA sales manager Jordan Adams.

By combining the Mondini Trave range of tray sealers with the Mondini Platformer, users’ packaging lines become a 'thermosealer', allowing users to switch from thermoformed in-line trays from a reel or pre-made trays at any time.

"This revolutionary system forms trays on demand, in line, from a reel,” Adams says.

“The Platformer technology cuts the tray footprint before the forming process occurs, reducing the scrap to just one per cent.”

An additional benefit of the process is that the tray format changeover time is less than 10 minutes, with only two components needing to be changed, at a lower cost to a standard thermoformer.

Processors can also choose a solution to best suit market conditions, customer demands, and the needs of the business, according to Adams.

“Whether using trays made in line or pre-made, the line is designed in such a way that the product can be filled either automatically or using skilled staff,” he says.

The Pack Experts Committee of the international trade show ALL4PACK Paris recognised the G Mondini Platformer in the Machines, Systems, Equipment: Flexibility, Safety and Intelligence for Products and People categories in packaging, according to Adams.
