Yellow Tail maker, Casella Wines, is launching a new range of packaged wine spritzers under the Bondi Rd brand.

The company, which has produced a billion bottles of Yellow Tail since introducing the affordable brand in 2001, is at the same time launching a bottled sangria product under the Yellow Tail brand.

John Casella of Casella Wines said the new products aimed to provide different ways and new occasions for consumers to drink wine.

Bondi Rd is a sparkling Sav Blanc spritzer that comes with three infused flavours: Original, Elderflower & Mint and Ginger & Green Tea.

“This is completely different flavour to wine. It's a grape-based product, with fruit flavours,” Casella told Food & Drink Business.

He said though it's being pitched as an RTD alternative, the product, which is just five per cent alcohol, was not designed for younger drinkers.

“We price this well above the RTD,” he said. “This is the culmination of lots of R&D on what the market really wants.”

The 275ml spritzers are sold in a 4-pack and retail for $18.99 per pack.

Yellow Tail's new Sangria is a wine-based cocktail with citrus notes, which the company describes as a “social and fun drink”.

It is now on sale in Australia for $9.99.
