Woolworths has made more fridge space for a kombucha brand following a period of rapid growth for the fermented tea company.

In less than a year since launching in Woolworths, MOJO Crafted kombucha has grown quickly by capitalising on the burgeoning segment of fermented drinks.

Woolworths has now partnered with the company to launch two exclusive new flavours of Passionfruit and Turmeric.

Probiotic beverages such as kombucha are believed to improve gut health, and independent grocery retailers are also said to be now making $70 to $80 million a year from sales of the fermented tea.

MOJO Kombucha claims to be full of active enzymes, organic acids, and proven probiotics.

The certified organic, vegan-friendly and gluten-free beverage offers gut health benefits as well as vitamin B12 and immune support.

“We’re thrilled by the rapid growth,’’ Andrew Buttery, business development manager for MOJO Crafted, says.

“Launching our full range of flavours in more channels means consumers win, and we do too.

"It’s a huge investment in refrigerated space in independent stores with a traditionally smaller footprint."

The MOJO Crafted range is now available from Woolworths nationally in 450ml bottles including Ginger; Strawberry Hibiscus; Passionfruit and Turmeric (500 stores carry the full range of four flavours, 900 stores carry three flavours).

330ml bottles of MOJO Crafted and MOJO Classic flavours are sold at IGA, Foodland, Super IGA, The Friendly Grocer and Foodworks stores.
