Scott Perkins will replace Gordon Cairns as chair of Woolworths Group following the group’s AGM on 26 October. Perkins has been a non-executive director for eight years, while Cairns has been chair for the last seven.

Cairns said he was proud of what had been achieved during his tenure and the transformation of Woolworths into a purpose-led business.

Perkins was at Deutsche Bank from 1999 to 2013, in executive leadership roles including managing director and head of corporate finance for Australia and New Zealand, membership of the Asia-Pacific Corporate and Investment Bank Management Committee and CEO of Deutsche Bank New Zealand.

He has been chair of Origin Energy since October 2020, replacing Cairns in that role as well. He is a non-executive director on the board of Brambles, and chair of its Remuneration Committee and member of its Audit & Risk and Nominations Committees.
