Woolworths has partnered with Michelle Bridges on a new range of ready meals to be sold in the deli section as the category heats up.

The new deli range will add to the existing 'Michelle Bridges Delicious Nutritious' frozen ready meal range, which launched last year and has sold almost one million meals.

According to Woolworths, the ready meal category has grown 13 per cent from 2015 to 2016.

“I’ve worked closely with Woolworths to create the new range of deli ready meals, which includes the kind of food I love to cook up and serve at home, such as whole grain Penne Bolognaise and Peri-Peri chicken,” Michelle Bridges said.

“The meals are packed with the right combination of protein, whole grains and vegetables, and are all less than 450 calories.”

Monique Cashion, senior nutritionist at Woolworths said, “Our customers have told us that they are busier than ever and are looking for great value convenient meal options, that not only make them feel good, but also fuel their busy lifestyles.”

“Working with Michelle Bridges, we’ve ensured that all of the meals are high in protein and fibre, have at least two servings of vegetables and meet the requirements for a four star health rating. “We have also limited the amounts of saturated fat, sugar and sodium while making sure all meals still taste great.”

The new range of Michelle Bridges Delicious Nutritious ready meals are now available in the deli section across nearly 720 Woolworths stores nationwide and retail at $7.99 per meal.

The varieties are:

· Whole Grain Penne Bolognese with Roasted Vegetables, 350g

· Butter Chicken with Whole Grain Rice, 350g

· Peri-Peri Style Chicken with Whole Grain Rice, 350g

· Beef & Barley Casserole with Roasted Vegetables, 350g

· Italian Style Chicken with Whole Grain Penne Pasta, 350g
