Peter Brazel, general manager of AAK Australia, has become the first 'supplier' member of the Ai Group to be awarded the confectionery sector's Alfred Stauder Award for Excellence.

Brazel founded AAK Australia in 2000 to develop the Australian and New Zealand specialty fats markets, and has more than thirty years experience in the food sector.

In 2009, he moved to Malaysia to take up the role of business development director AAK Asia Pacific, while continuing his role with AAK Australia.

"Peter has been a strong supporter of the confectionery industry for many years,” said Ai Group Confectionery Sector Principal Advocate Tim Piper.

He has excellent networking skills within the industry and his support and advice with the development of the ConTech program each year, is well recognised.

Peter also brings a depth of local and international perspective to both the Ai Group Technical Committee and Ai Group Confectionery Industry Advisory Committee. He is very deserving of this award."

The Alfred Stauder Award recognises an individual's significant contribution to the confectionery industry in the form of research, development and marketing of business.

The Award was presented by the Hon Jeffrey Kennett AC at Ai Group Confectionery Sector's Congress Industry Dinner in Melbourne last week, which was sponsored by Manildra.
