Wine Australia has announced that James Gosper, its general manager market development, will be stepping down at the end of the month.

Gosper will, however, be engaged for an initial period to 30 September 2014 to continue to lead the Market Development team and to oversee a seamless transition ahead of the pending merger of Wine Australia and the Grape and Wine Research and Development Corporation to form the Australian Grape and Wine Authority.

Acting chief executive Andreas Clark said Gosper had established a dedicated global team that continues to deliver great results for the industry during his time with Wine Australia.

“I would like in particular to congratulate James on delivering Savour Australia in September 2013, the biggest Australian wine forum ever held which was an outstanding success.”

Gosper said that whilst the trading environment had been challenging, he saw many exciting opportunities for the future of Australian wine globally, and he'd decided the time was right to move back into the commercial side of the industry to seize these opportunities.
