Western Australian wine company Voyager Estate will transition to organic certification after 40 years of planting.

The Voyager Estate winery in WA's Margaret River covers 40 hectares of vineyards and is now in the three-year process of conversion as certified by Australian Certified Organic (ACO).

The move underpins Voyager Estate’s commitment to sustainable farming, including carbon footprint reduction, use of renewable energy, recycling, land rehabilitation and re-vegetation activities, as well as its 100 per cent carbon neutral stance.

For the transition, the wine company asked for help from LAMS (Laboratoire Analyses Microbiologiques Sols), a French laboratory that specialises in analysing vineyard soils to understand its physical, chemical and biological properties and how this relates to wine quality and style.
