Taylors Wines has taken out the title of Australia's best winery at two international wine competitions held in the US.

The family owned company has taken the of Best of Nation at the San Francisco International Wine Competition for the fifth time and has won the Australian Winery of the Year award at the New York International Wine Competition.

Companies must notch up multiple awards with their individual wines to win these titles, and Taylors Wines, which is based in the Clare Valley, South Australia, received 19 medals, including one rare double gold medal for the 2010 Taylors Estate Cabernet Sauvignon and four gold medals, in San Fransisco.

Taylors Wines said it also had the best results of any Australian winery entered in the highly competitive New York International Wine Competition where its 2012 Jaraman Shiraz was named ‘Shiraz of the Year’ and was awarded a gold medal.

“These awards are not only testament to our winemaking team, but also recognise our lust for innovation, our family philosophy and the care that is taken in all facets of our wines,” said Taylors Wines managing director, Mitchell Taylor.
