Award-winning whisky company Sullivans Cove has been sold to a family-owned Melbourne company.

The Sable family bought Sullivans Cove for an undisclosed sum from distiller Patrick Maguire and a number of other investors.

Adam Sable was formerly general manager of Scottish distillery Bladnoch. The management team, including Maguire, will remain at Sullivans Cove under the new ownership.

The new owners plan to expand the distillery to cater to rising demand.
