Ashgrove Cheese has initiated a precautionary recall of several hard cheese products after routine testing found traces of Listeria.

The company says there have been no reported cases of illness and the recall is being entered into voluntarily as a precautionary measure.

The affected Ashgrove-branded products were sold in independent supermarkets in Tasmania and Victoria, while the Emporium Selection Pepper Cheese was sold in Aldi stores.

The products are now being removed from supermarket shelves, according to Ashgrove.

“At this stage we are unaware of how this occurred, but we will be conducting a full investigation into the incident,” the company said.

“Ashgrove is 100 per cent committed to the delivery of the highest quality products and we will keep our suppliers and customers regularly informed of any developments.

“At this stage we understand this is an isolated incident and none of our other products are affected."
