Sunny Queen has cooked up a new innovation - a snap-frozen smashed egg product - out of its recently built manufacturing plant.

Smashed Egg, which comes in a free-flowing format similar to frozen peas, is pre-cooked and frozen without seasonings, mayonnaise, sauces or preservatives.

The company's new manufacturing arm was opened with the aim of designing ready-made products targeting food service outlets, and Smashed Egg was specifically designed by Sunny Queen Meal Solutions for caterers preparing egg dishes.

“The Smashed Egg is ready to thaw and use in minutes, and allows caterers to develop a range of customised egg dishes more quickly than before,” Sunny Queen MD John O’Hara said.

“Other products require preservatives to ensure the egg doesn’t discolour and usually have a fairly short shelf life," he said. "Additives can also affect the taste.”
