Top bartenders from Adelaide, Perth, Brisbane, Sydney, and Melbourne went to head to head in a bid to pull the perfect Stella Artois using a 'Nine Step Pouring Ritual' at Palmer and Co in Sydney this week.
Bartenders are judged on their ability to pour a Stella Artois according to the Nine Step Pouring Ritual – a process developed by the Lion-owned Belgian beer brand to create the perfect beer (see below).
This year winner of the Stella Artois World Draught Masters National Final was Richard Yeomans from Adelaide. He will now represent Australia at the Stella Artois World Draught Masters Championship in Cannes, France, held during the Cannes Film Festival.
The global winner will be crowned the Stella Artois Global World Draught Master ambassador and travel the world to share their passion for the brand and the beer experience with local bartenders and drinkers.
Outgoing Australian champion, Charlie Mudd, placed second at the 2012 global finals of the Stella Artois World Draught Masters competition hosted in Montreal, Canada, edged out by current champion and Stella Artois World Draught Master Global Ambassador, Allaine Schaiko of Belgium.
The Sydney event was hosted by Daniel MacPherson, and this year’s judges included ‘The Beer Diva’, Kirrily Waldhorn and 2012 Australian Champion, Charlie Mudd.
