Coca-Cola Amatil's fruit processing business, SPC Ardmona, is launching a new whipped frozen fruit snack called Perfect Fruit which it hopes will hold global appeal.

The dairy-free product is 100 per cent fruit with the consistency of ice cream, and is dispensed from special machines.

So far, 400 of these dispensers have been installed in hospitals, entertainment parks, cinemas, school and universities across NSW, Victoria and Queensland, and the company says it also has plans to export the product.

“Perfect Fruit is a great example of how SPC is transforming from a cannery to a modern snack food company. We’re excited to be delivering new, innovative ways to enjoy fruit on the go,” SPCs director of marketing & innovation, Sandra Pereira, said.

“We spent years developing the world-first technology to create Perfect Fruit. So far, the feedback we’ve had from our customers has been overwhelming – we don’t actually have enough machines to meet demand at the moment.”

If the company's export plans succeed, SPC will need to buy more fruit from their Australian farmers, according to Pereira.

“With a challenging year behind us, SPC is focused on a positive future. We’re innovating all the time and are excited about the new products we’ve got in the pipeline for 2015 and beyond,” said Pereira.

Perfect Fruit has a recommended retail price of $3.00 for a 148ml serve and is eaten standalone or with toppings such as choc minis, butterscotch brittle, slivered almonds or muesli for $0.50 extra.

Flavours include strawberry, mango and mixed berry, and each serve has fewer calories than a standard apple, according to SPC.
