The SIAL Paris food innovation exhibition, which is expected to draw 7200 exhibitors 160,000 visitors this October, will include some interesting new features including an 'alternative food forum' and a 'rising start-ups space'.

The Alternative Food Forum, which is described as a show within a show, and has been created in recognition of the major phenomenon of healthier food that is also more respectful of nature and of animal well-being.

The forum will be dedicated sector and events, and will have its own signposting and its own decor, and more than 300 exhibitors had already signed up, according to organisers.

Over the five days of the exhibition, conferences and roundtables will be run on the latest innovations and opportunities, with topics to include superfoods, clean label, agriculture, sustainable development, and animal well-being.

"SIAL has always been at the vanguard in food matters, and this year we wish to go even further with this Alternative Food sector," SIAL's network director Nicolas Trentesaux says.

A new 'rising start-ups space' will also be a feature of SIAL Paris, and will showcase around fifty budding European businesses.

The rising start-ups space has been created in partnership with the incubators of the Idefi-Ecotrophelia network. Organisers will select the most innovative start-ups to exhibit within its FUTURE LAB area, pitch on the set of SIAL TV, and gain visibility for their projects.

SIAL Paris, which takes place from 21 to 25 October 2018 at Paris-Nord Villepinte, is being organised by Comexposium Group.
