Sealord says its Barramundi farm near Cairns is one of the first in the world to be awarded the Best Aquaculture Practice (BAP) certification.

To achieve the Best Aquaculture Practice accreditation, Sealord says all aspects of its operations were assessed including its environmental responsibility, community relations, employee safety, food safety, animal health and the care of wildlife.

“Being the first Barramundi farm world-wide to be certified with Best Aquaculture Practice, is a great achievement. We pride ourselves on having a strong stance on sustainability through every aspect of our operation and this accreditation reflects all the hard work we put in on a daily basis,” said Scott Hayward, farm manager, Sealord King Reef Barramundi.

“We hope to set the standard world-wide for Barramundi farms and continue to be at the forefront of Best Aquaculture Practice.”

Woolworths will be the first retailer in the world to sell Best Aquaculture Practice Barramundi, with Sealord King Reef Barramundi to be available through its supermarkets.
