Red Bull Australia's profitability is losing its buoyancy with the company reporting its third annual profit fall in a row.

Red Bull is the world's top selling energy drink but its success has been curbed by fierce competition in Australia, according to a Fairfax Media report.

Although Red Bull Australia's sales increased last calendar year, its net profit after tax fell 3 per cent to $7.18 million in the year to December 31, 2014.

The Austrian brand which was founded in 1987, is the second largest seller in Australia after V which is manufactured by Suntory-owned Frucor.
