RANGEme, the online range review portal, has launched a new feature that allows suppliers to include a video pitch for their products listed on the site.

The technology allows a the creation of a product pitch to retail buyers that's simple enough to be recorded on a smart phone, according to its sales & marketing director Cary Shamgar.

"A product pitch is a fundamental part of securing a successful ranging. Before RANGEme, suppliers would try and pitch to buyers over the phone," says Shamgar.

"This is a highly pressurised situation and if the supplier failed to deliver the right message on cue, the buyer may have been put off. With RANGEme's new video technology the message is 100 per cent in the supplier's control offering the product the best chance at a ranging."

According to RANGEme, the video specs are purposefully very low-tech so that SME suppliers don't need to incur any great expense.

Suppliers can list their products on the site for consideration by buyers via a subscription and the video pitch is included in the fee.

RANGEme suggests the pitch video to be no more than 30-60 seconds, be recorded on a smart-phone and then uploaded to a secure YouTube channel.
