Originally starting out in Melbourne in 1943, PFD launched in Western Australia in 2008 with 130 people and 22 trucks. It has since grown to 276 people and more than 60 trucks at the company’s site in Banjup, just five minutes from the new facility.

The new facility will house state-of-the-art infrastructure and equipment, driving efficiency, quality and a greater product range to support PFD’s future growth plans.

This includes energy-efficient refrigerated storage rooms, supported by a modern two-storey office space, truck maintenance facilities and environmental features including roof-mounted solar panels and refrigeration plant.

The project is being delivered by Dexus for PFD, as part of the ASCEND Industrial Estate, which is jointly owned by Dexus, Cbus Super and Dexus Industria REIT.

PFD general manager Western Australia and Northern Territory, Tony Pascov, said the expansion reflects the company’s commitment to investment in the region, delivering high-quality service and an even more comprehensive product range to its customers.

“Over 17 years, we’ve proudly built strong, long-lasting relationships with local businesses and an upgraded facility is needed to meet capacity,” said Pascov.

“We’re excited about this next step for PFD as we continue to bring people together through food across Western Australia.”

The company stated the expansion will enhance its operations, increase capacity, and allow it to better serve its growing customer base across Western Australia, marking a major milestone in PFD’s growth strategy. The move will improve service delivery to meet the changing needs of customers and support regional operations in Geraldton, Bunbury, Albany, Esperance and Kalgoorlie.

Woolworths Group acquired a 65 per cent stake in PFD in 2021, and acquired the remaining 35 per cent in 2024.
