Fresh produce company Perfection Fresh will control a third of Australia's tomato market after buying the tomato business of its rival Moraitis.

The purchase includes the Moraitis tomato-growing business - nearly five hectares of glasshouse at Tatura in Victoria - and the licence to the uniquely coloured Kumato Tomatoes.

Perfection Fresh is Australia’s largest family-owned fresh produce business, and it employs over 500 full time staff at its farms and facilities.

Perfection Fresh owns D’VineRipe, Australia’s largest tomato glasshouse, and the company says the fast growing tomato category has been a major focus of its growth.

The company's other produce brands include Broccolini baby broccoli, Qukes baby snacking cucumbers, Vine Sweet Minicaps baby capsicums, Midnight Beauty and Sable Seedless black grape, and it also owns value-added specialty foods business, Picasso Foods.
