Thompson’s Nutrition is the latest company to capitalise on new hemp legislation in Australia with the launch of a new range of food products.

The company's new hemp food range includes seeds, seed oil and a number of powders, which can be added to sauces, dressings and desserts to boost their nutritional value.

Hemp is considered to be one of the most nutritious whole food products in the world. Compared to flax and chia, hemp seeds contain more protein per gram. Additionally, hemp seeds contain all three essential fatty acids, namely Omega 3, 6 and 9, and contain dietary fibre to aid digestion.

Nutritionist Zoe Bingley-Pullin is a long-time hemp advocate.

Australian nutritionist and long-time advocate of the plant-based protein, Zoe Bingley-Pullin, spoke at the launch about her campaign to educate Australians on the truth about hemp’s nutritional value.

A recent Australian survey revealed that a massive 39 per cent of respondents considered hemp foods to be similar to baked goods containing illegal (THC containing) ingredients, according to Bingley-Pullin.

The study also revealed that more than a third of Australians are unaware that hemp products can be consumed, and only six per cent of respondents were aware that hemp foods have nutritional benefits.

The Thompson’s Hemp Food Range will soon be available in pharmacies and health food stores across the country.
