When it comes to choosing specialist equipment, food manufacturers tend to place production and price high on the priority list, but the ability to meet strict hygiene requirements is also gaining prominence in companies’ selection criteria.

With this in mind, Selpak has launched what it describes as the most hygienic enrober available today in the Australian market.

The new product, the Chocoat Premium HD, is made by confectionery and baking equipment manufacturer, Hosokawa Bepex.

This is one of the first products of its type to offer such a dramatically reduced number of components and parts, according to Selpak, which represents the company in Australia.

Because both the parts and assembly units can be dismantled easily, they can be hygienically cleaned within a very short time, according to the company.

“Production and price are no longer primary considerations in choosing specialist equipment,” said Selpak managing director, Shane Sipthorp. “Strict hygienic guidelines and the pressure now to reduce cleaning and changeover times with regards to the machine design, have become extremely important.”

The Chocoat Premium HD was on show for the first time at the ProSweets trade fair in Cologne in January 2013 and Sipthorp said Selpak was very excited about the new launch.

“It sets some very high standards with regards to components, material, and overall design that simplifies cleaning, changeovers and easy maintenance. We are very pleased to be introducing this exciting new enrober to the Australian market.”

Hosokawa Bepex sells a series of hygienic design (HD) equipment for the bakery and confectionery industries. Last year the company also released a hygienic design bottomer, a high efficiency cooling tunnel and a fanning/spreading conveyor.
